A playful collection of Japanese cats—curled, grooming, resting and peeking—adapted into an airy front graphic. THE ORIGINAL ART & ITS STORY Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797–1861) made Cats of the 53 Stations of the Tokaido, dated 1847–1850 in the Rijksmuseum record. Instead of depicting the road’s post stations as landscapes, this famous cat design plays with station names through feline poses and visual wordplay. This shirt is a selected-cat collage adapted from the historical sheet; it does not reproduce all 53 station vignettes or the red name cartouches. SHIRT OPTIONS & FIT
